Last night the Shockoe Bottom Neighborhood Association held their monthly meeting. The hot topic on the agenda was the future of the Shamrock the Block festival.
The fight captured on YouTube might be the catalyst for a change of location for Shamrock the Block that celebrated it’s 10th in Shockoe last weekend. At issue are unruly drunks, trash, questionable benefit to local businesses, and whether the layout of the Bottom can handle the 30,000 visitors. To the woman who unwisely used the men’s room sink as a toilet during yesterday’s Shamrock the Bottom festivities: LuLu is gonna get you! Anybody go? I didn’t go but reports from others were of large crowds and long beer lines.
I went to Shamrock the Block last year and had a decent time mainly because we went early and avoided the worst of the crowds. This year the organizers have promised that things will be better. They have taken over more street area, added more beer trucks, larger kid area and more volunteers. I’m still [...]
Organizers are saying that the beer trucks will be bigger and the lines not as bad as last year for the first outdoor festival of the year. Things start at 12 and close up at 6. Band List is below and the official website is right here.
