Crime down in Shockoe for 2010

Lt.Beazley’s Sector 112 December report (PDF) (covering Blackwell, Oak Grove, Shockoe Bottom, Shockoe Slip, Manchester, Old Town Manchester, and Hillside Court) is now available. Notably, compared to 2009, violent crime is down 31% and property crime is down 16% in Shockoe Slip/Shockoe Bottom for 2010.

Lt.Beazley’s Sector 112 November report (PDF) (covering Blackwell, Oak Grove, Shockoe Bottom, Shockoe Slip, Manchester, Old Town Manchester, and Hillside Court) is now available. Notably, so far compared to last year this time, violent crime is down 36% and property crime is down 14% in Shockoe Slip/Shockoe Bottom.

Some notes from the SBNA meeting

I crashed the Shockoe Bottom Neighborhood Association meeting this evening at the soon-to-open Sheba Ethiopian Restaurant and it was super informative. If you’re neighbor a or business owner in the area and want to stay in the know, you should really be making it out for these every-3rd-Monday meetings.

Police/citizen walk-through set for Saturday

A neighborhood walk-through has been set for this Saturday, as part of the police department effort to identify citizen concerns about the area. Changes at the First Precinct

There has been a leadership change at First Precinct. The new commander is Paul Ronca and the new Sector 111 lieutenant is James (JJ) Laino. Lieutenant Emmett William remains in place for Sector 112.
