RTD takes a look at Venture Richmond
Chance are that you’ve enjoyed one of the many festivals that take place in RVA, the biggest of which is coming up this weekend the Richmond Folk Festival. This morning’s paper takes a closer look at the folks of Venture Richmond that work so hard so that we can have fun at events like Friday Cheers.
Leading the group is Jack Berry, who joined in 1998 after a 20-year career in city and county government because “I have always had a love for the city, and I felt like downtown was poised for a big step forward.”
“Our job is to wake up every morning and think about how to make downtown better,” said Berry, Venture Richmond’s executive director. He leads a nine-member, full-time staff who coordinate efforts by numerous other businesses, organizations and volunteers involved in putting together all the events and programs Venture Richmond produces.

[...] While Venture Richmond turns on the PR machine in advance of this weekend’s folk festival, Oregon Hill neighbors received a copy of the topography of the planned 2nd Street Connector which is adjacent to the proposed amphitheater. This topography drawing shows that there are good sight lines for an amphitheater without damaging the canal.
