Shockoe-on-the-Half-Shell on Saturday

Trying to find any sort of real details on this event was not easy at least until Richmond.com posted the following. The event is going down on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

And this weekend, a big oyster roast is coming to the 17^th Street Farmer’s Market with the 5^th annual Shockoe-on-the-Half Shell.

Richmond restaurants and vendors like Halligan’s Bar & Grill, Arcadia and seven others will be serving oysters a variety of ways at the festival. You’ll find oysters roasted, raw on the half-shell, oysters Rockefeller and even oyster stew.

There will be live music from cover band Kinetic Element and jazz from Sharon Rae North and her band.

There will also be BBQ sandwiches, hotdogs, hamburgers and funnel cakes if you’re not a fan of the clam. Plus adult beverages from Budweiser as well as autumn ales like Shock Top Pumpkin Wheat.
