Kidnapping, carjacking, and robbery downtown

From RTD;

A man escaped injury when he was robbed, abducted and carjacked in downtown Richmond on Wednesday night.

Richmond police Capt. Michael Zohab said the victim was confronted at 9 p.m. in the 300 block of South Fourth Street, near the Downtown Expressway, by three black men between the ages of 20 and 25, including one who was armed with a box cutter.

The suspects demanded money, forced him in the car and began to drive him to an ATM to get more money, Zohab said. But the victim jumped out of the car at North Ninth and East Broad streets, and the suspects drove off in the vehicle, Zohab said.

Police recovered the vehicle a short distance away, Zohab said.

Detailed suspect descriptions were not available this morning.
