Cocktail Anyone?
Richmond.com took a sip of Summer Cocktails and it just so happens that two local joints get a libations shout out. Anyone tried either of the following?
- Hot to Trot: Julep’s, 1719 E. Franklin St. Created by Ben Johnson and Bobby Kruger, this cocktail combines sweet, spicy, herbal, and tart all in one drink. Recreate it yourself with the detailed recipe below. What’s In It: One and a half ounces Woodford Reserve, half an ounce Luxardo Marashino Liqueur, one ounce Spicy Peach Puree, four and a half leaves of fresh spearmint, one dash of Fee Brother’s Orange Bitters and half a lemon, juiced. Combine all ingredients, except the Bourbon, in a Julep Cup, muddle, then add Bourbon and top with crushed ice. Garnish with a sprig of mint and a fresh peach slice.
- Bill’s Creamsicle: Sette, 7 N. 23rd St. Created by server Bill Carlton, this off-menu listing is a riff on the restaurant’s Creamsicle cocktail, but with a higher juice to alcohol ratio and served in a pint glass—the perfect drink on a hot summer day. What’s in it: Stoli Vanilla Vodka, orange juice and pineapple juice.
