Sector 112 report for August

Lt.Beazley’s Sector 112 August report (PDF) (covering Blackwell, Oak Grove, Shockoe Bottom, Shockoe Slip, Manchester, Old Town Manchester, and Hillside Court) is now available.

Through the end of August, violent crime is down 35% in Shockoe Bottom/Shockoe Slip and property crime is down 9% (with a 75% drop in burglary). The area has seen a 250% increase in “theft of moped” (2 incidents in 2009, 7 in 2010).

In the same time period, Manchester has had 1 violent crime (compared to 0 through the end of August in 2009). Property crime has dropped 16%.

Old Town Manchester has seen a 50% increase in violent crime (from 4 incidents to 6). Property crime is also up 31% (23 incidents in 2009, 34 in 2010).
