shockoe center community support meeting
The first community support meeting for Shockoe Center was held tonight at GlobeHopper. With approximately 30-40 people in attendance for the meeting, a clear majority seemed to be in support of the project. More information on the details of the meeting are coming tomorrow.
If you are interested in attending tomorrow night’s meeting, it will begin at 5:30 at GlobeHopper, 2100 East Main Street in Shockoe Bottom. 804-523-8083.
Not to be nit picky but the majority were in favor because the meeting organizers invited supporters of the project…so it stands to reason that most of the people there were in favor of the stadium.
That would be a regular tactic the shills are easy to sway the sheep
There appeared to be a few people who do not support the stadium there (based on their comments and questions), and a few people who were trying to make up their minds. I will be posting my notes on the final meeting this weekend.
Its clear that Highland Properties is conning Richmond into giving up that valuable land on the Boulevard to this moronic idea. They want this property so bad that they are willing to sacrifice Shockhoe Bottom for it. The Diamond in the Bottom would congest and endanger the access to MCV. There is enough land there on the boulevard to build a new stadium and a new Shockhoe Bottom like village there. These people are greedy and they do not have Richmond’s best interest. We need to guard Richmond from developers like this. They will destroy our history in a blink of an eye. I saw developers like this destroy my hometown of Nashville ,TN. They have no history there to see just strip malls. Most of Americas early history happened HERE. Not many cities in the USA can say that. We can right here in Virginia. We need to build with history not build over it. Shockhoe Bottom is primed for restoring. The Boulevard is primed for developing.
Lets do it right Richmond. And allowing Highland Properties to do so is wrong. Any one who respects the history and beauty of Richmond would never even suggest putting the Diamond in the bottom. They just want that boulevard property for their greedy selves. Don’t be fooled Richmond, they are wolves in sheep clothing
